Shortly after the fateful mission to explore the Dragons’ Keep for a possible exit from Musto, the surviving silver dragon took to the sky and flew to the mainland. Enraged, the dragon burned the first settlements and towns it came across. Drought worsened the resulting fire, which spread across the Amber Hold, the large section of land dedicated to grain production and cattle graving. Battles to stop the dragon turn to fight to stop the fires. In the end, only the most significant cities survived the destruction—90% of the Northern Range and the entirety of the Amber Hold burned to ash. The southern granaries and druids fed as many people as they could for the following two years, but 60% of the population died of starvation or related illness.
