The Cursed Waters of Musto

Updated: Jan 24, 2025

The Last Dictator of Musto had a final grand plan to remain in power. He believed that by finally delivering on the promise to eradicate what remained of the Orc War, no one would question his rule again. Nearly years were spent rounding up those of Orcish descent. The violence and disruption to commerce made his political issues more complicated. The cost of these efforts drained the treasury and diminished all strategic reserves. A half-joke from Lucas Spice, Chief Treasurer of the Last Dictator, provided the solution. “ What we need is a Hag.”

A Hag they got. The request was simple - end what remained of the orc population. The Hag’s solution was also straightforward: a curse placed at the source of all freshwater in Musto. This curse would prevent male orcs from reproducing. The dictator would get what they wanted, eventually.

Enemies of the Last Dictator caught wind of the plan in time to attempt to stop it. Despite the wide=spread hate and distrust for all orcs and half-orcs, a coalition was formed to stop the life waters of Musto from being poisoned. The elves committed their Baelnorn to the fight.

The Hag and the Baelnorn fought against a backdrop of armies and monsters. The waters were stained red with the bloodshed that day. The Baelnorn was able to deal the fatal blow to end the Hag, at the cost of its own life. As they both bled out, the Hag made a final change to her curse. A change that would damn the people that made the tool of her undoing.

The next 72 hours of Musto’s History are known as The Great Dusting
